Setup a full width image in Showcase 2

Anyone wanting to add a full width image to any page, including the front page can set one up easily with the Image plus Text widget or at least the Custom Text without Title widget. Either widget will work because you don’t want to have a title showing on the front-end for your header images.

  1. Create your full width image by cropping it in your favorite image editor
  2. Upload your image to your Media Library in the WordPress Admin but copy the path to the image before closing it out
  3. Go to Appearance >> Widgets >> and then drag the Image plus Text widget into the “Showcase 2” panel and paste the image path into the image url field, then fill out the admin title and click SAVE

If you are using the Custom Text without Title widget, you need to add some html code to the content area to get the image to show up:

<img src="your image path here" alt="description here" />

NOTE: Although nowadays you do not need the image dimensions, with the code shown above, it’s usually a good idea to add a width and height to your image for some browsers. Default with for a full image in the Showcase 2 position is 960px (pixels) but height can be anything you want. So if you add these dimensions to the <img> tag, your code would look like this:

<img src="your image path here" alt="description here" width="960" height="100" />
