Introduction to the theme control panel

Starting with the Transition theme, you now have a control panel to manage selective elements within your site. You won’t have to change them too often once you set your preferences but here are the details regarding this new feature. First, look for the Transition Control Panel located at the bottom of your WordPress dashboard left column menu – should look like this:

This menu offers a submenu which will give you the shortcodes to help enhance your pages and posts with small snippets of code from a “read more” button to “multi-column” layouts. When you go to the Transition Pro settings, you will see three tabs that will slide downward when you click on one and will show settings for that category. Best to start with the top one which is the STYLE SETTINGS, followed by the Social Bookmarking tab, and then the Miscellaneous options.

Each tab will contain the following settings:

  • Theme Colour
  • Logo or text title
  • Logo image ALT tag

  • Enable Twitter (follow me)
  • Twitter username
  • Enable Social Bookmarking (loads a social icon group at the top of the footer)
  • Feedburner RSS link

  • Custom favicon
  • Copyright information
  • Google Analytics
  • Enable Breadcrumbs navigation
