We live in a world of diversity but if there is one thing that can bring us all together it’s the theater or the cinema. For a few hours, we can forget our troubles and be entertained by story or song. This form of entertainment is a multibillion dollar industry, and it is also an art form, and it is so much more. As said numerous times both here and elsewhere, WordPress is a platform that welcomes all ideas and professions and the cinema and theater is no exception to this. Many people have created themes that cater to movie houses and theaters. There are WordPress themes that aspiring film directors can use to showcase their portfolio to the world. Some themes have been made that mirror famous websites like Netflix or IMDB. And we can’t forget that there are themes for the blogger who simply wants to talk about Hollywood or Broadway. This week I’ll go over 38 cinema & theater themes for WordPress.
Starting off our list this week is the theme Movie Folio from inkthemes.com. What I like about this theme is its overall simplicity. There isn’t really any of the typical effects you’d find on any other WordPress site. The reason for that is obvious: don’t let a website’s special effects detract you from the real star of the show – your films. This site is all about your portfolio but it can be about your blog as well. If you have a blog you write regularly then you can post it on this theme and WordPress can of course store it, present it, and retrieve it in a simplistic style. The layout keeps in step with the theme’s overall minimalism so as people can navigate through your site easily and quickly. This is a premium movie theme that runs for $79.
Up next is Theatre Show from inkthemes.com. Now this theme is more suited for businesses that deal with theatre like Broadway, circus, plays, and you get the idea – ticket sales in other words. What’s cool about this theme is that it includes an appointment system so that you can keep organized your purchases, your sales, whose coming, whose going, etc. Now while I am not into show business I can pretty much guess that it’s active so having that kind of functionality would be essential to keeping things going. Layout wise, Theatre Show is much like Movie Folio in that it is minimalistic. Again, this is where as people who visit your site can find their way around. This theatre theme runs for $79.
Next on our list comes from inkthemes.com. At first glance you would think that First Focus is a dressed-up version of Movie Folio. This is not so. First Focus is more like Theatre Show than anything else. In other words, First Focus is for businesses that captures events on film like weddings, bar mitzvahs, family gatherings, and so on and so forth. Like Movie Folio, this theme comes with its own portfolio section that potential clients can look through before making up their mind. Now unlike the previously mentioned themes, First Focus has a little bit of effects like video backgrounds for example. This is done so that you can wow those potential clients in staying long enough so you can convince them to hire you.
Block Buster, which comes to us from inkthemes.com, is a theme for movie critics, movie news, and movie analysis. My first thought when seeing this theme was – wow, did they capture IMDB’s spirit or something? That’s the level of quality you’re getting with this theme that it feels like it should stand alongside sites like IMDB. Block Buster comes with a rating system that you can use on the movies or shows you’re watching. It’s also advertiser ready so you can insert ads into your site. It categorizes the films you discuss in a way much like IMDB with your rating, your reviews, and of course links to the movies sites. This cinema theme goes for $79.
I only have one word to describe this theme – intense. When you view the demo, you realize that you’re about to get pulled into an experience that submerses your senses into something wonderful. Vysualize is a WordPress theme for individuals that have made a movie and wish to market it. A long time ago, movies would buy up domains and make an interactive website for people to immerse themselves in it. This is still done today but not as much as creating a social media page is more cost effective. There are some movies that are marketed in the way that I described. This theme helps to sell your movie using YouTube plugins, enhanced images, and interactivity functionality.
Up next from templatemonster.com is VisuaFX. If you merged Movie Folio with First Focus, then you would get VisuaFX. Included with VisuaFX is a wide assortment of cherry plugins (look at their site, you’ll see what I mean) as well having an easy layout system, and a five-minute installation. What makes this theme fascinating to me is that it uses drag and drop technology to help build your pages. In a way, its much like some of the WordPress theme frameworks out there like Divi or Avada. VisuaFX can be made to give your site a lot of flare or it can be as minimalist as it can be – you make the call. The developers of VisuaFX stand by their product and offer this cinema wordpress theme for a one time purchase of $81
We come back to inkthemes.com with Cinema 24. This theme is essentially a mixture of Theatre Show and First Focus. It’s meant for movie companies and production studios but it can also be used for theatre and other stage related entertainment. What captures my attention with this theme is that even though it looks and sounds like a blog it can be used to collect donations. Inkthemes.com does this with their donation plugin so people can give if they feel inclined to do so. The layout is simplistic which helps people to know their way around rather quickly. Other features include an image slider and sleek looking navigation. This theme goes for $79.
We stick with inkthemes.com and their theme Replay Theatre. Do you like plays? How about stage performances? Do you own a stadium that houses regular events? How about a small movie theatre? If yes to any of those then this theme is for you. It’s essentially a blog for individuals whose passion in entertainment goes along the lines I’ve mentioned. With this theme, you can sell tickets to upcoming events, showcase a gallery of images of past events, blog about current events and what you have in mind for the future, and even ask people if they are willing to donate. This theater theme really does help to sell your form of theatre entertainment for $79.
Earlier in the article I said that Block Buster caught IMDB’s spirit and ran with it. The good people who made MovieDB decided to create their own version of IMDB that has its own spirit. It’s safe to say that they succeeded in that regard. MovieDB as you guessed is a theme that allows you to create a database of movies with your own critique and rating; essentially all the good things that IMDB allows anyone to do with their site. MovieDB also gives you a lot of creative control so that you can design your site to meet your needs. It comes also with other tools like statistics generators so you can help organize your collection better. This movie theme for wordpress runs for $49
This theme is one of my favorites and I really don’t know why to be perfectly honest. Maybe it’s just the name – MOVIE – which is simple and to the point. Then again it could be how MOVIE is just arranged in layout and functionality. There is the idea that it could be just both, but okay, enough of me gushing over this theme. This theme is essentially a multitasker. It can be an IMDB clone, or it can be a blog, or it can be both. It advertises your entertainment and it can let others express how much they enjoyed your show. Movie is customizable of course and it can be set up to be multilingual so anyone from around the world can come and see what you say about your entertainment.
From templatemonster.com comes the aptly named Movies theme. This theme falls in line with the other IMDB inspired themes. Its presents itself as minimalistic and that helps visitors navigate your site easily. Now this creates a lot of space and the developers use that to their advantage by enlarging their entries and navigation so people can see what you got rather quickly. Included is a gallery, a portfolio, and of course a blog. You can choose a different color scheme if the default colors don’t interest you. Movies is SEO and multilingual ready so people from all around the world can find your site, visit it, and experience it the way you want it to be experienced.
Up next is Silver Screen, a WordPress theme for production companies. What I love about this theme is its overall appearance. It feels like I am reading a movie magazine that I can pick up any newsstand or bookstore. Silver Screen comes with simple animation effects that gives their online magazine feel an extra bit of charm. What’s more is that the developers of Silver Screen have added retina ready technology. This means that any image you put on your site will get an extra boost of life so that it comes out looking better. Even though this theme has a stated purpose it can do some multitasking if need be. It comes with WooCommerce so you can sell your wares online.
Movies Online is a blog slash portfolio theme from templatemonster.com. First impressions are that they try to make everything feel seamless, but you have the option of breaking up each section of your site so that it looks and feels distinct. Movies Online works to present your love of movies for everyone to see in a simple layout that people can follow. Since this is a blog centered theme, Movies Online organizes your entries and presents them in a format that feels like it comes from a top-notch site. There are extras of course: mobile responsiveness, multilingual, and SEO functionality. Movies Online can also be customized to fit your needs.
Another entry from Template Monster. Online Movies is pretty much a blog and portfolio theme for people who want to show off their video collection. Overall, the theme pretty much relies on minimalization to not take away from your video collection, but you can add more effects to your site if you wish. Like all products from templatemonster.com, Online Movies allows you to customize your site however you wish. Its mobile responsive, has multilingual functionality, and it is also SEO ready so that people from around the world can find you wherever they are and enjoy the content that you have. A single site license costs $75 for this online movie theme.
Theater – a WordPress theme for those who love the theater. This theme is a multitasker. It can work as a blog that shares your love of the theater with anyone who comes and visits. It’s a portfolio that you can upload your images and videos so that people can see the kind of work you do. It’s also a business theme as it can help people to see where you’re at, what your hours are, and how much you cost. Like all products from TM this theme comes multilingual and SEO support as well as being mobile responsive, so people from around the world can find you anywhere they are. This theater WordPress theme goes for $75
Netflix. Hulu. Amazon. These are services that we use every single day. They stream us news or entertainment or something educational. Are you looking to set up your own video streaming service? If you are then templatemonster.com has got your back. Their theme, Movies Entertainment, helps users to get their video streaming service up and running in no time. While the theme looks pleasing aesthetically it does not have any effects at all as you want to save all your server’s power for showing your videos. Movies Entertainment is e-commerce ready. It is also mobile responsive. It is also multilingual and SEO ready so people from around the world can find you anywhere.
From template monster comes Theater Entertainment – a WordPress theme for lovers and critics of theater. It goes without saying that this is a theme for bloggers. Why choose this theme though? When you walk through Theater Entertainment’s demo you can see that the developers want to try give life to your entries. Therefore, the theme comes with an assortment of plugins that deal with images and page effects. After all, we can of course talk about the theater in our blog posts but it’s not the same as being there. Effects and things, you can do with your images can only give your readers a taste of what you felt when you went to see a show. Maybe that might be enough to get them to go to the theater.
Another IMDB slash movie blog site from templatemonster.com. This theme accommodates those who want to get right to the movie reviews or movie data as quick as possible. Navigation is in a big bold format that is extremely hard to miss. The layout is direct with a basic color scheme that works aesthetically as well as functionally. This theme also comes with RSS feed functionality so people can get the latest updates for your site. Website effects are at a minimal only using a unique image carousel that displays your images in a fun and beautiful way. All themes from templatemonster.com are of course mobile responsive, SEO and multilingual ready.
Another blog that centers on the theater from templatemonster.com. It, like Movie Online, is low on the page effects so that your content doesn’t get drowned out by the shiny, shiny. Its layout looks simple but it’s designed to make your content look compact, more bang for your buck in other words. The theme’s layout also allows for your content to be more enlarged so that people can find it more easily. Included also is RSS feed functionality so people can get the latest updates you post. The color scheme is a bit off in my view but of course it can be changed. Entertainment Theater of course has the standard refinements like mobile responsiveness, SEO and multilingual functionality.
Earlier, when I was talking about Theater Entertainment, I said that the effects that theme had was a way of giving a small taste of what going to a show. Theatre WP runs with that sentiment but in a different way. Designed to look more like an online magazine, Theatre WP shows off your gallery of images in larger than life flare. People who come to your site will find a lot of interactivity with finding articles on the latest shows. If you run a theatre, then you can use your site to sell tickets and keep a track of performances with an interactive calendar. Theatre WP also includes Visual Composer as well so you can have greater control in how you update your site.
From templatemonster.com comes Movieline. This site is a mishmash of movie news and criticisms along with IMDB style capabilities, but the overall layout is straightforward. Mainstream professionalism is the best way to describe the look and feel of the theme itself. There aren’t any effects to this theme so it doesn’t distract your visitors, and this of course allows your content to be in the spot light as it were. Movieline makes your content appear bigger and more direct so as to grab people’s attention rather quickly. While the content may appear scattered it of course can better organized to suit your needs. Templatemonster.com themes are always mobile responsive, SEO and multilingual ready.
From templatemonster.com comes another take on a movie review style site called – Movie. Now Movieline was big, in your face, and compact, Movie on the other hand dials things down considerably. The layout is standard but it is also accommodating and that gives your content more space. Like all blogging themes out there, Movie organizes your content and people can use its search engine functionality to find anything specific. Movie also comes with a testimonial plugin so you can display any positive comments you get. Like all themes from templatemonster.com, Movie is mobile responsive as well as SEO and multilingual ready.
From templatemonster.com comes another interpretation on the online theatre magazines and studios. Off the bat, you can see that Classico Theater shows an immense love for theater with how it shows off content. Users who come will be pleasantly surprised by how graphics just seem to leap out of nowhere and say hi. With a standard layout, users will be able to navigate their way around the site with no trouble what so ever. Included with this theme is an interactive calendar that shows upcoming events, and it also allows users to make a reservation at that event. Like all themes from templatemonster.com this theme is mobile responsive, SEO and multilingual ready.
From templatemonster.com comes another representation of theater based themes. What caught my attention with this theme was its font’s and color schemes; all of which says playfulness. Naturally you can customize any theme out there so it can suit your needs. So, why show Theater in the manner that they did? It’s their subtle way of saying that you can have fun with this theme. Again, all themes out there can be customized but the majority of theater themes are presented as being serious or formal. Included is a testimonial plugin so you can showcase any favorite comments you have. Image and blog functionality are also included.
From templatemonster.com comes Movies a movie review and blog theme. A single word best describes this theme – minimalistic. When you check out the demo you can see a basic layout with very little effects. Even the color scheme is very simple in its design. I’ve said this a lot throughout the article but layouts like this help to promote your content whatever it may be. This theme can handle images, videos, and other multimedia formats. Since this is a wordpress theme, Movies keeps your content well organized and displays it along the same minimalistic style. Included with this theme is mobile responsiveness, and is also SEO and multilingual ready. A single site license goes for $75.
This theme is by far my favorite for several reasons. The Passion, you cannot help but take notice of the name. It’s the developers’ way of saying that movies and theater is something they truly love, and let me tell you – it shows. When you look at their demos you’ll see the love they’ve put into the theme. It has a mixture of effects and layout and color schemes that adjust well to the movie or movies you want to talk about or promote. This is a multipurpose theme so it can be just a blog, or a news and reviews site, or an online magazine or whatever you need. Also included is Visual Composer which will give you far greater control in customizing your site. This cinema wordpress theme runs for $64.
Up next is The Movie from Gloria themes. Whereas most of the themes listed here are set in style, The Movie gives you great control over how your site should look and feel. From the admin panel, you can give it a lot of effects or little to no effects at all. You can choose the layout of your site from its admin panel and add other customizing features at the same time. The Movie also comes with Visual Composer which makes this customization happen. Other features include mobile responsiveness as well as being SEO and multilingual ready. Included also are Contact Form 7, customized widgets, various post types, and so much more. This movie wordpress theme goes for $49.
Up next is Seatera from cohhe.com. Like the previous two themes, this theme bridges the gap between effects and content while maintaining good functionality. This theme presents your content front and center with the respect that it is due. Seatera comes with an assortment of functions and plugins that help enhance your site’s functionality. These include image sliders, video streaming, connecting to your flickr account, Google maps, progress bars, and so on. Also, included are aesthetic components that helps you have greater control in customizing your site. This theme is for the movie reviews and ticket sales but it can multitask to whatever you need it to be. This cinema movie theme runs for $49.
We return to templatemonster.com with another interpretation of theater blogging. What’s pretty cool about this theme is that it tries to make its content look seamless. Follow my train of thought for a second, you know how there are sites that have sections with various backgrounds? Well, those sites often feel jagged which can be a bit of annoyance for some. Theater Blog fights against this with a more seamless feel complimentary colors and no white spaces. You can use this theme to promote your studio and sell tickets. It also comes with testimonial functionality as well. All themes from templatemonster.com are mobile responsive, SEO and multilingual ready.
Up next is Theatre Concert from cms masters. There is one word I can use to describe this theme – stunning. Designed to be like a mish mash between a review site and a studio that sells tickets, Theatre Concert grabs your attention in a more sophisticated manner. It does this by using the right amount of effects along with good color choices and the appropriate fonts. The layout of this theme is good which helps guide visitors on where they need to go. It goes without saying that this theme is e commerce ready. Theatre Concert includes plenty of interactivity with event calendars, galleries, and so on and so forth. Thiswordpress theatre theme for $59.
From themeum comes Moview, a news and reviews theme for WordPress. I found myself enjoying this theme as I walked through its demo, and that was mostly because of the colorful images that is showcased on the demo. You’re going to use your own images naturally but Moview will showcase them much like it did with its images on the demo. You can also use this theme to create your own IMDB style movie database. Another awesome feature is its show time functionality where visitors can get days and times for movies at nearby theaters. A search engine feature is also part of the package. This wordpress movie theme runs for $48.
ONLINE MOVIES BOOKING
Like the previous theme, Online Movies Booking is a movie review and online ticket sales based theme. You can use short codes to style your pages quickly. We come back now to templatemonster.com with their Theatre entertainment blog. What’s nice about this blog is that it’s simple. I’ve mentioned that a few times over the course of this article and other articles I’ve done. Simplicity is something a lot of developers strive for as that helps users having an overall good experience. This theme lays out everything in a basic format and that allows your content to be the star of the show. There aren’t any effects to this theme except with the navigation area. You can use this theme to keep track of theatre events that are happening, or you can use it to showcase a gallery of images you love, or it can do both.
