Marketing to small businesses seems to be the bees-knees these days. I’ve gotten dozens of e-mails over the last few months from top internet marketers like Frank Kern, Ryan Deiss, and Mike Koenigs who are either directly or indirectly pushing some type of system for doing internet marketing for small businesses. I would guess that if the “big dogs” are hot on this trail then it is definitely worth consideration.
As it turns out, according to the research company known as The Kelsey Group, 97% of consumers are not using the internet to research businesses in their local areas before soliciting business from them. From a small business perspective this means they must get themselves online. From a savvy internet marketer’s perspective this is an easy pitch to the biz-opp crowd.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am one of the biz-opp crowd, albeit I like to think I’ve matured a little bit from the days where I went to bed dreaming about how to come up with the money for Mass Control 🙂 I think this is a great move by these guys to help people really, truly make money online. Because local business niches are a lot smaller than some of the more traditional niches (like internet marketing!) there is HUGE potential for people to make money online by helping small business owners.
In fact, before I had even heard of Frank Kern, Ryan Deiss, or Nitro Marketing I had already been putting together just such a system myself. Thankfully, it is now coming to fruition through my company Scepter Marketing, which does small business internet marketing for local companies. But anyway, I find this whole trend quite fascinating.
It is interesting to watch the impact of these product launches on the keywords in this niche. For example, the amount of competing pages for one keyword that is related to this type of local marketing increased by 12,000 within a week. I wish I could say they were all mine! I’m not really too concerned though. There are PLENTY of fish in the sea when it comes to small businesses and there is plenty of money to go around!
So if you’re a newbie to internet marketing and you want to make some money asap… start your little behind to learning all you can and then find some local businesses you can market for and use them to make money and improve your skills at the same time. As always, let me know what I can do to help you succeed online.
